“Von Doom”
Curated by Alex Braubach
6-9 pm
Closing reception: Saturday, October 31st, Halloween Party!
6-9 pm
"Von Doom" is a celebration of heavy-metal inspired art with a focus on image-makers of the current metal scene. This exhibition, on display during October, brings together a variety of artists hailing from places as far away as the U.K. and Australia.
The collection in the front room gallery will focus on drawings and prints in various degrees of brutality, un-holiness and gore. Much of the art on display can be found again as album art, tour posters and t-shirts.
The backroom will harbor a large-scale installation conceived and created by two San Francisco local metal headz.
Inspired by San Francisco's own "Hell-o-ween" Black Metal Festival, this show is an ode to the music that spawns cross eyed goat heads, summons the apocalypse and paints itself in corpse paint. Nothing is sacred - all is doom.

With MARK and LUCY
Questions by Alex Braubach and photos by Andrew McClintock
Lucy…
Kind of depressing.
How did this show “can you believe it, we almost got divorced” come about?
I am trying to prove to Mark that I am not the enemy.
Describe your art as you would describe it to a blind person.
Sensitive, like a girl.
Tell us about your influences.
Global culture, affective life, feminism, hegemony, parataxis… PhD thinking.
Tell us about your collection at home
We recently acquired a collection or Uruguayan crab claws; they are displayed on top of our organ alongside our collection of paper mache heads.
Are you happy with the current president? What would you do as president?
Obama is obviously an improvement, but I am disappointed in the health care situation. If I were president I would socialize health care.
Coffee or Tea? What is your favorite Halloween costume?
Coffee with half and half. Braubach’s hot dog.
How does it feel being back in SF?
It is nice to be back and smell the urine. I really missed seeing all the tired 50 year old hookers on Ellis.

How did this show “can you believe it, we almost got divorced” come about?
Well, we almost got divorced and instead of seeing a marriage counselor we decided to have a show together…….it has been a rave success, we are more in love today than at any other time in history.
Describe your art as you would describe it to a blind person.
Soft….then hard, then soft again….then a little shy,…then hard….then messy.
Tell us about your influences.
My wife is a major influence. I steal a lot of ideas from her and pawn them off as my own.
Tell us about your collection at home
We collect organs, books, poorly printed porn mags and spices from all over the world.
Are you happy with the current president? What would you do as president?
Absolutely…I think Reagan has been doing a great job. I especially like that he planted that garden at the White House. If I were president I would bomb everything.
Coffee or Tea? What is your favorite Halloween costume?
Mostly coffee but sometimes Lucy will make tea with cream and sugar and it is pretty super….especially with Indian food. The best Halloween costume of all time has got to be Slutty Waitress.
